The Last Lecture

I read a fantastic book this week call 'The Last Lecture' by Randy Pausch.  He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  As a professor at Carnegie Mellon, he gave his last lecture that was turned into a book.  I haven't watched the actual lecture yet, but it's here at this website:  www.thelastlecture.com

The book is amazing.  It has great insight into how to live a meaningful life.  His last lecture focused on his childhood dreams and how he fulfilled them all.  He talks about getting through challenges in life and was a great example.  I highly recommend it!

Couldn't Be Happier

Check out this cute girl.  Really.  Could she be any happier?  Dressed up in a princess gown, heels, pink lipstick all of her face, and a tiara to boot!  She is a little girl in heaven.

I miss those curls. She's almost 6 now.  She has the same great smile and big brown eyes.

Silver Medallion Status

Thanks to all my business trips in 2011, I made it to Silver Medallion status with Delta!  I went to Toronto FOUR times.  I spent almost 8 weeks there.  It feels very odd to be back in my apartment in Salt Lake.  And now I get a free checked bag whenever I fly for the next year.   Yippee!!!

Last fall, just before I found out I was going to be traveling to Toronto quite a bit, I ordered the newspaper.  I just wanted to try it out to see if I used the coupons from the Sunday papers. I was gone almost the whole time the paper was coming to my house.  So I'd come home from each trip and there would be a HUGE pile of papers behind our front door.  And I finally transferred them to the trunk of my car so I could take them to be recycled.  Well...they might still be in the trunk of my car.  That was about the beginning of December.  And now I have another month's worth of newspapers to add to it.  But first I have to go through the Sunday papers and clip coupons.  That was the point of it all anyway, wasn't it?

My Birthday

I turned 32 in Toronto a few weeks ago.  My amazing special friend brought my fancy cupcakes from a boutique bakery downtown.

I still had to blow out the candle and I think he sang happy birthday too.  Kind of embarrassing (for him, not me!).

A dozen delicious cupcakes sprinkled with pink dust
What a special evening even though I was so far from home and family.

The Holidays

Want to know what I did over the holidays?  Check out my sister's blog.  She chronicled every day.  And I love her for it.
